My favourite forms of entertainment are movies, television shows, and talent competitions. They help me relax and enjoy my free time.

Second, I love watching television shows. Educational and travel programmes increase my knowledge about different countries, cultures, and scientific discoveries. Some comedy shows also make me laugh and reduce stress after a busy day.

Q.6 In Unit 7, you learned about countable and uncountable nouns.
Now your task is to answer the following questions: (10)

Explain the difference between countable and uncountable nouns in your own words.
Give five examples of countable nouns and five examples of uncountable nouns from everyday life.
For three of your examples, write a complete sentence using them correctly.

    1. Explain the difference between countable and uncountable nouns in your own words.
Countable nouns are the names of people, places, animals, or things that can be counted individually. They have both singular and plural forms, and we can use numbers with them. We also use words like a, an, many, few, and several with countable nouns.
Examples: one book, two books, three apples.
Uncountable nouns are the names of things that cannot be counted one by one because they are usually liquids, gases, materials, ideas, or abstract qualities. They normally do not have a plural form. We use words like some, much, a little, and a lot of with uncountable nouns.
Examples: water, milk, sugar, rice, information.

    1. Give five examples of countable nouns and five examples of uncountable nouns from everyday life.
      Countable Nouns:
    2. Book
    3. Pen
    4. Chair
    5. Apple
    6. Student
      Uncountable Nouns:
    7. Water
    8. Milk
    9. Rice
    10. Sugar
    11. Information

    1. Write three complete sentences using your examples correctly.
    2. I have three books on my study table.
    3. My mother gave me a glass of milk before school.
    4. The teacher shared important information with the students.

    Q. 7 In Unit 8, you have learned about the school life. Share your opinions about the following questions. (15)2
What age do you believe is appropriate for children to start school? Why?
What benefits and drawbacks do you believe coeducational schools have?
How, in your opinion, do boarding schools help their students?
Which group do you think is most responsible for education, students or teachers? Why?

    1. What age do you believe is appropriate for children to start school? Why?
I believe that 4 to 5 years of age is the best time for children to start school. At this age, children are mentally and emotionally ready to learn new things. They can communicate with others, follow simple instructions, and develop social skills. Starting school at the right age helps children build confidence, improve language skills, and prepare for higher education.

    1. What benefits and drawbacks do you believe coeducational schools have?
Coeducational schools have many advantages. Boys and girls learn together, which helps them respect each other and develop good communication skills. They learn teamwork, confidence, and cooperation, which prepare them for future workplaces.
However, coeducational schools also have some disadvantages. Some students may become distracted from their studies or feel shy while participating in class activities. If discipline is not maintained, it may affect the learning environment. Overall, I believe the advantages of coeducation are greater than its disadvantages.

    1. How, in your opinion, do boarding schools help their students?
Boarding schools help students become independent and responsible. Students learn to manage their daily routines, complete their homework on time, and take care of themselves. They also develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, and time management skills. Living with other students teaches them respect, cooperation, and confidence. Boarding schools also provide a focused environment for study and extracurricular activities.

    1. Which group do you think is most responsible for education, students or teachers? Why?
In my opinion, both students and teachers are equally responsible for education. Teachers provide knowledge, guidance, and motivation, while students must study regularly, complete assignments, and work hard. A teacher can only guide, but students must make the effort to learn. Therefore, good education is possible only when teachers and students work together with dedication and mutual respect.

Q.8 In Unit 9, you have learned about natural disasters and how to express concern and help victims. Suppose a natural disaster has occurred (you can choose a real or imagined calamity, e.g., earthquake, flood, cyclone, or landslide). Write a brief speech of 200–250 words urging people to assist the disaster victims. (15)

Speech: Helping the Victims of a Natural Disaster
Respected Principal, Teachers, and Dear Friends,
    Good morning to everyone.
Today, I would like to speak about the importance of helping people affected by natural disasters. Recently, a severe flood struck a nearby area, destroying homes, schools, roads, and crops. Many families lost their belongings and were forced to leave their homes. They are now living in temporary shelters and need our support.
In such difficult times, it is our moral and social responsibility to help those in need. We can donate food, clean drinking water, clothes, blankets, medicines, and other essential items. We can also contribute money to trusted relief organizations working in the affected areas. Even small acts of kindness can bring hope and comfort to people who are suffering.
As students, we may not have much money, but we can still make a difference. We can collect donations, organize awareness campaigns, and encourage our families and friends to help the victims. Volunteering our time and showing compassion are also valuable ways to support those affected.
Natural disasters can happen anywhere and at any time. Therefore, we should always be prepared to help one another. A caring and united community becomes stronger in times of crisis.
Let us stand together, extend our helping hands, and support the disaster victims with love, generosity, and humanity. Together, we can bring hope and help them rebuild their lives.
    Thank you!
